Work as a formative value

Colleretto Giacosa, 12/11/2024

The “PMI DAY 2024” or “National Day of Small and Medium Enterprises” — as reported by La Gazzetta di Ivrea in the article “XV PMI DAY 2024”, published on November 25, 2024 and by Il Risveglio Popolare in the article “Successful Data for the PMI DAY in Canavese”, published on November 28, 2024 — is an event that, now in its fifteenth edition, has achieved remarkable numbers: 46 companies, 87 middle school classes, 1.700 students, and 200 teachers involved, with a steady increase compared to previous years. The success of the format — promoted by Confindustria with the support of the Ministry of Education and Merit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, and characterized by a variety of interactive activities such as open days, guided tours, and educational workshops — lies in its ability to immerse young students in the concrete and everyday reality of businesses. It presents the world of work not through the pages of a book but through the direct testimonies of entrepreneurs, made of challenges and success stories, allowing students to experience first-hand the dynamics of production processes through which raw materials are transformed into semi-finished or finished products.

Furthermore, events like PMI DAY help to strengthen the dialogue between the business world and the school system, making young people perceive Work as a foundational value, education as an essential need, and people as the true and primary wealth.
